Fox News Edited Out Applause for Hugo Chavez at UN

What makes me angry is that this video from Fox News is the one going around the internet. But if you watch the whole thing and pay close attention you will see - CLEARLY - that "Faux" jumps over applause and laughter from the audience many times. Just look for the "skips" in time. Bastards.

But CNN isn't much better. During their first broadcast the "journalist" (and I use that term very loosely with TV talking heads) said that there was laughter and applause, but that it could be compared to when a few school children laugh at another for making fun of the principle, and doesn't really mean anything.

HUH? A few? I heard dozens of leaders from around the world laughing and clapping to the statements made by Chavez.

Here is my message to "journalist" (and no, I don't consider myself one. This is commentary, observation and opinion, but certainly not journalism) out there: KEEP YOUR FUCKING MOUTH SHUT! GIVE US THE FACTS! WE DIDN'T ASK YOU. NOBODY ASKED FOR YOUR IGNORANT FUCKING OPINION. JUST REPORT THE NEWS, THEN SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GO HOME! THERE IS NO NEED TO INJECT YOUR OPINION. YOUR OPINION IS NOT THE NEWS! YOUR OPINION IS COMMENTARY AND SHOULD BE LEFT TO THE OP / ED SECTIONS OF YOUR PROGRAM OR NEWSPAPER. KEEP IT OUT OF OUR GOD DAMN NEWS!

Bush is making the world HATE us. We are in for a rude awakening if this shit doesn't stop soon.

How the Government is Allowing Oil Companies to STEAL from YOU

The US Government is allowing oil companies to drill in PUBLICLY OWNED waters in the Gulf of Mexico and are not collecting OUR royalties, which should be used to build schools, roads and provide protection against attack. Instead, oil companies continue to record RECORD profits quarter after quarter.

New York Times:

"Four government auditors who monitor leases for oil and gas on federal property say the Interior Department suppressed their efforts to recover millions of dollars from companies they said were cheating the government."

"The accusations, many of them in four lawsuits that were unsealed last week by federal judges in Oklahoma, represent a rare rebellion by government investigators against their own agency."

"The auditors contend that they were blocked by their bosses from pursuing more than $30 million in fraudulent underpayments of royalties for oil produced in publicly owned waters in the Gulf of Mexico."

Princeton Prof Hacks into Diebold Voting Machines

In a noble experiment, a Princeton University computer science professor hacked into a Diebold voting machine and spread a virus across other voting machines. This is why we NEED hackers - to test the system for vulnerabilities that might be exploited by corrupt assholes.

The shady bunch. Fuck it. I'm moving to Chile. I don't think Bush supporters are allowed in that country. I think they hang them on sight, or something like that. Ahhh... home sweet home.

Just kidding, actually. I am at least going to wait until the next Presidential election and see what happens.

Bush Administration Wants to Redefine Fascism

- Thanks to CommonDreams.org for This Piece -

The Bush administration has embarked recently on a campaign to redefine the words Fascist and Fascism.

"This nation is at war with Islamic fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us who love freedom, to hurt our nation." - George W. Bush

"Those that downplay the threat of terrorism in today's world can be compared to the apologists that ignored the threat of fascism in Nazi Germany prior to World World War II." - Donald Rumsfeld

They are doing so because many have begun to realize that the two words define, with scary accuracy, their actions and their agenda. Realizing that those who fall for their antics are too ignorant to know what the word really means, or too lazy to analyze the concept of fascism, the administration is conciously attempting to redefine the word in a classic act of propaganda: Taking the criticisms aimed at you, and turning them around on your critic. If Bush supporters were intelligent enough, or willing to put forth a minimal effort, they would realize that the word used by Mussolini (Fascism) has nothing to do with terrorists or Islamic fundamentalists.

My favorite (and IMO the most accurate) definition of Fascism:
The 1983 American Heritage Dictionary: "A system of government that exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with belligerent nationalism."

Now who does that describe?

I can't ask you to join in a revolution. Not here. Not now. Not on the internet. It is illegal... for some reason, which I frankly do not understand. But let me share with you a quote by President, Franklin D. Roosevelt:

"These economic royalists complain that we seek to overthrow the institutions of America. What they really complain of is that we seek to take away their power... Our allegiance to American institutions requires the overthrow of this kind of power!"

Bush Admits to Creating a Terrorist Mecca in Iraq

Bush, rather than using his time yesterday to consol the American people and mourn the loss of our citizens, decided to push his political agenda and hobby-war in Iraq. Speaking about why we can't pull out of Iraq now, bush said:
"If we yield Iraq to men like bin Laden... our enemies will be emboldened, they will gain a new safe haven, and they will use Iraq's resources to fuel their extremist movement. We will not allow this to happen."

We know now (not that I and many others haven't known all along) that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with Al Qaeda, and - in fact - the Bush family had more business dealings with the Bin Ladens in a single year than Saddam had his entire life. We know, although a terrible leader and a man with a penchant for genocide in his own country, that Saddam actually kept Iraq virtually free of terrorist cells. He had to in order to protect his own ass! His enemies were our enemies.

What has happened now, since we have invaded their country, wiped out their infrastructure, taken jobs, killed many thousands of innocent men, women and children, is that Iraq has become, IN BUSHE'S OWN WORDS, a potential "safe haven" for terrorists.

Iraq is now a breeding ground for terrorism. And he claims to be protecting us?

By the way, Bush may not care about catching Osama Bin Laden, BUT WE SURE THE FUCK DO!

Bush Gets His Ass Handed to Him

It's about time... The word impeach is finally coming out of the lips of mainstream media: Time stamp for that comment is around 4:30...ish.

One of my favorite parts is when Keith Olbermann compares the Bush Administration's fear mongering to a Twilight Zone episode.

His last words were:
"May this country forgive you"

Not me. Never. I will go to my grave despising George W. Bush in the worst way. I wish he were like most of his followers - a simple waste of oxygen - but he has gone way beyond that and is a menace to the world. He will go down in history as the worst US President ever, and I will teach my children and grand children about his terrible legacy so that they will know what to look for should it every happen again.

Forgive him? I think not.

Bush the Fear Monger and Matt Lauer

Watch This Video in which Matt Lauer asks Bush if he thinks there is a chance that our interrogation tactics run the risk of blurring the lines between us and our enemies (by bringing us down to their level, are we not losing the war?). To this, Bush has the oh-so-thoughtful reply:

"They are trying to kill your family."

...Ummm, ain't nobody tryin' a kill MY family Mista Bush. Dey's tryin' a kill yo family!

By the way, he never really answered Matt's question, did he?

I am glad to see this fad called "journalism" is finally coming back into fashion. It was "so 1960's" there for awhile that most "journalists" were afraid of asking any question that might have them pegged as "anti American". But ever since the approval rates and opinion polls have swung over to our side, they (major news outlets) are suddenly changing their tone and asking questions.

Too bad they didn't ask questions in the first place. Maybe we wouldn't be here.

US Government Busted Tweaking Iraq Death Toll

According to this CNN report, the U.S. military did not count people killed by bombs, mortars, rockets or other mass attacks when it reported a dramatic drop in the number of murders in the Baghdad area last month.

The decision to include only victims of drive-by shootings and those killed by torture and execution, usually at the hands of death squads, allowed U.S. officials to argue that a security crackdown that began in the capital August 7 had more than halved the city's murder rate.

In fact, the numbers were pretty much the same as the previous month.

May these lying scumbags rot in hell for eternity.

September 11 - The Fundamental Question Has Not Yet Been Asked

It has been five years. Five years, God Damn it, and nobody has asked the question! Five years, and nobody has even attempted to open dialog on the most fundamental enquiry resulting from the September, 11 attacks. So here, allow me to be the first:

What have we done, as a nation, that would push men and women so far that they are willing to give their lives in order to take ours? A man does not strap a bomb around his chest and blow himself to bits for no reason. And don't regurgitate this "40 virgins" crap, because most fundamental Christians believe in streets paved in Gold and a city in the clouds, yet I don’t see some 45-year-old father from Ohio wrapping himself up in dynamite and blowing up the Iranian embassy.

WHY did they do it? Did anyone stop and think that, perhaps, maybe, possibly, the United States government, and the United States cultural and economic hegemony might have finally pushed these people too far? When someone says you can't have something, then turns and gives it to the person standing next to you, for seemingly no other reason than that the other person practices a different religion, would that not anger you? Folks, I am talking about the right to use nuclear power and build nuclear weapons. On one hand we have been telling the Middle East that they cannot use nuclear power and cannot possess nuclear weapons. We used their soldiers as pawns during the Cold War and left them high and dry after they helped us push back the Soviet front. Then we follow that up with every sanction known to man, put up McDonalds on every street corner, and promote instability so our fat, white, rich oil moguls would have leverage over the war lords and corrupt business people of the region. On the OTHER hand, we provide their neighbor (Israel) with weapons, money, training, and the right to have nuclear weapons and nuclear power. Then we, the same country who dropped the atomic bomb on two major Japanese cities, killing hundreds of thousands of INNOCENT LIVES in seconds, have the gull, the audacity, to pretend that terrorists have no legitimate political agenda, that they are below us for their acts of terrorism and taking innocent lives.

Don’t get me wrong, taking innocent life for political motives is a disgusting act. But that is precisely what we did in Hiroshima, and it is precisely what Bush is doing in Iraq right now! And if you think he is trying to "protect" us, think again. Ask yourself whether we are safer now than we were the day after September, 11. Why are we in Iraq? What does Iraq have to do with 9/11? We have all the proof in the world that Iraq was not tolerant of Al Qaeda prior to our invasion. But they sure the hell are now!

President Bush has used you. He has used your fear, patriotism and sympathy to further his own agenda. The result, five years after the attack on our World Trade Centers and the Pentagon, is that we are more hated than every before. In other words, we are in greater danger than ever before.

He looked at the elite war lords of America (I say war lords, because they make their money and build their corporate empires on war) and said "Some people call you the elite. But I call you my base." What do you think he meant by that statement?

Let me ask one more time: What have we done to "these people" that would make them want to take their own life in exchange for taking ours?

Answer that, and you will know how to bring peace to the Middle East.

My heart does go out to the family members who are today mourning the loss of loved ones five years ago. The people who did this deserve to be brought to justice, regardless of their motives, just as the people who pushed them to do this need to be brought to justice, especially because of their motives. George W. Bush and his rich friends do not care about you. They put on a good act, but actions speak louder than words and their actions in regard to capturing Osama Bin Laden have been but a whisper compared to their actions in regard to pushing up stock prices for Halliburton, lining the pockets of the oil and gas industry, and using fear to take away our civil liberties, such as the right to privacy, right to fair trials, and protection from illegal search and seizure.

The Bush administration is not on your side. They are on their own side. But the true patriots are here, and we are growing by numbers and by anger every day. How long? Not long. Because what you reap, is what you sow.

Something I Wish I Had Written

I wish I had written THIS.
But I didn't, and it was unfortunately written by the same people who wrote another article, which I will not link to, bashing Democrats in a similarly humorous way. Apparently, they just want people to make a buzz and visit their sites so users would arrive and click on links. If you are going to claim "fairness" I say write towards the center, not FAR left, followed by FAR right. I don't claim "fairness" on the Angry Liberal Blog. There is nothing "balanced" about this page. But that's the point.

The best thing about the post we have linked to above is how pissed off it made the republicans who commented on it. I just hope one of the got so angry that their McDonald's Fat Cluttered Arteries finally gave way. Every modern Republican (as opposed to those of us with "true" republican values such as fiscal responsibility, international relations that facilitate national security, taking care of them men and women who serve our country in times of war, looking out for the best interests of the PEOPLE - NOT CORPORATIONS LIKE HALLIBURTON - and limiting the reach of federal government into our private decisions. And yes, there IS a time and a place for war, but that time and place was Al Qaeda strongholds after 9/11, NOT Iraq, which had nothing to do with 9/11)... What was I saying? Oh yea - Every modern republican who gets pissed off enough at that post to have a fatal heart attack is one less piece of shit on Earth wasting our oxygen.

That's right, I said it.

Bush and Friends Try to Rewrite 9-11 History

How very Orwellian of them to make a movie that rewrites the history of 9/11 and the events leading up to that terrible day in order to shift blame onto Bill Clinton. But Slick Willy isn't having it, and his lawyer responded as such below in a letter to ABC President Bob Iger...

September 1, 2006

Dear Bob,

As you know, ABC intends to air a two part miniseries, “The Path to 9/11,” which purports to document the events leading up to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. ABC claims that the show is based on the 9/11 Commission Report and, as Steve McPherson, President of ABC Entertainment, has said: “When you take on the responsibility of telling the story behind such an important event, it is absolutely critical that you get it right.”

By ABC’s own standard, ABC has gotten it terribly wrong. The content of this drama is factually and incontrovertibly inaccurate and ABC has a duty to fully correct all errors or pull the drama entirely. It is unconscionable to mislead the American public about one of the most horrendous tragedies our country has ever known.

Despite several requests to view the miniseries, we have not been given the courtesy of seeing it. This is particularly troubling given the reputation of Cyrus Nowrasteh, the drama’s writer/producer. Mr. Nowrasteh has been criticized for inaccurately portraying historical events in the past. In response to previous criticism, he has even said, “I made a conscious effort not to contact any members of the Administration because I didn’t want them to stymie my efforts.” Indeed, while we have not been given the courtesy of a viewing, based upon reports from people who have seen the drama you plan to air, we understand that there are at least three significant factual errors:

-- The drama leads viewers to believe that National Security Advisor Sandy Berger told the CIA that he would not authorize them to take a shot at bin Laden. This is complete fiction and the event portrayed never happened. First of all, the 9/11 Commission Report makes clear that CIA Director George Tenet had been directed by President Clinton and Mr. Berger to get bin Laden (p. 199 & 508-509). Secondly, Roger Cressy, National Security Council senior director for counterterrorism from 1999-2001, has said, on more than one occasion, “Mr. Clinton approved every request made of him by the CIA and the U.S. military involving using force against bin Laden and al-Qaeda.”

In addition, ABC’s own counter-terrorism consultant, Richard Clarke, has said that contrary to the movie:

1) No US military or CIA personnel were on the ground in Afghanistan and saw bin Laden;

2) The head of the Northern Alliance, Masood, was nowhere near the alleged bin Laden camp and did not see bin Laden; and

3) CIA Director Tenet said that he could not recommend a strike on the camp because the information was single-sourced and there would be no way to know if bin Laden was in the target area by the time a cruise missile hit it.

As Clarke and others will corroborate, President Clinton did in fact approve of a standing plan to use Afghans who worked for the CIA to capture bin Laden. The CIA’s Afghan operatives were never able to carry out the operation and the CIA recommended against inserting Agency personnel to do it. The Department of Defense, when asked by President Clinton to examine the use of US troops to capture bin Laden, also recommended against that option.

-- The drama claims that former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright refused to sanction a missile strike against bin Laden without first alerting the Pakistanis and notified them over the objections of the military. Again, this is false.

-- Using newsreel footage of President Clinton, the drama insinuates that President Clinton was too pre-occupied with the impeachment and the Lewinsky matter to be engaged in pursuing bin Laden. This allegation is absurd and was directly refuted by ABC News consultant Richard Clarke in his book, Against All Enemies: “Clinton made clear that we were to give him our best national security advice without regard to his personal problems. ‘Do you recommend that we strike on the 20th? Fine. Do not give me political advice or personal advice about the timing. That’s my problem. Let me worry about that.’ If we thought this was the best time to hit the Afghan camps, he would order it and take the heat.”

While these are three examples that we are aware of that are utterly baseless, they are clearly indicative of other errors in the substance and bent of the film. Indeed, the overall tone in the advertisements we’ve seen for this drama suggest that President Clinton was inattentive to the threat of terrorism or insufficiently intent upon eliminating the threat from bin Laden. Note that the 9/11 Commission Report says:

-- We believe that both President Clinton and President Bush were genuinely concerned about the danger posed by al Qaeda.” (p. 349)

-- “By May 1998 … clearly, President Clinton’s concern about terrorism had steadily risen.” (p. 102)

-- “President Clinton was deeply concerned about bin Laden. He and his national security advisor, Samuel ‘Sandy’ Berger, ensured they had a special daily pipeline of reports feeding them the latest updates on bin Laden’s reported location.” (p. 175)

-- “President Clinton spoke of terrorism in numerous public statements. In his August 5, 1996, remarks at George Washington University, he called terrorism ‘the enemy of our generation.’” (p. 500)

We challenge anyone to read the 9/11 Commission Report and find any basis for the false allegations noted above or the tenor of the drama, which suggests that the Clinton Administration was inattentive to the threat of a terrorist strike.

Frankly, the bias of the ABC drama is not surprising given the background and political leanings of its writer/producer, Mr. Nowrasteh, which have been well-documented on numerous conservative blogs and talk shows in his promotion of this film. Mr. Nowrasteh’s bias can be seen in an interview he gave to David Horowitz’s conservative magazine Frontpage, during which he said:

"The 9/11 report details the Clinton’s administration’s response – or lack of response – to Al Qaeda and how this emboldened Bin Laden to keep attacking American interests. The worst example is the response to the October, 2000 attack of the U.S.S. Cole in Yemen where 17 American sailors were killed. There simply was no response. Nothing."

But as Sandy Berger told the 9/11 Commission: “[T]o go to war, a president needs to be able to say that his senior intelligence and law enforcement officers have concluded who is responsible.” And as the 9/11 Commission report repeatedly acknowledges, the US did not have clear evidence of bin Laden’s connection to the attack on the USS Cole before the end of the Clinton Administration (p. 192, 193, 195 & executive summary).

While ABC is promoting “The Path to 9/11” as a dramatization of historical fact, in truth it is a fictitious rewriting of history that will be misinterpreted by millions of Americans. Given your stated obligation to “get it right,” we urge you to do so by not airing this drama until the egregious factual errors are corrected, an endeavor we could easily assist you with given the opportunity to view the film.

Sincerely,
